Friends, family and fellow students gathered in Breckenridge High School’s Bailey Auditorium on the morning of Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, to witness the National Honor Society induction ceremony.

Ten new members were inducted into the organization: Griffin Flournoy, Yvette Galan, Morgan Hash, Samantha Heatley, Blake Lee, Jaynae Mendez, Annakate Rodgers, Zachary Smith, Carly Tennison and Kelton Wylie.

The ceremony started with a welcome by BHS Vice Principal Paul Armstrong and the United States and Texas pledges of allegiance led by club President Mackenzie Harris and member Jadin Casto.

Casto, Harris, Secretary Kally Atchison and Treasurer Elyssa Glick lit candles representing the core values of the NHS, scholarship, character, service and leadership. Then, the new members recited the organization’s pledge and were welcomed into the group by faculty sponsor Cody Lockhart.

Current members of the local chapter of the NHS include Harris, Atchison, Glick, Casto, Vice President Maria Alvarado, Samantha Andis, Kayla Duran, Knightlin Haley, Maegan Hatchett, Claudia Mendoza, Makenna Moser, Anna Pilkington and Mykel Walters.
