TSTC presents scholarships at annual fall luncheon

The Breckenridge’s Texas State Technical College campus honored 12 students at the annual fall semester Student Appreciation/Scholarship Lunch on Monday, Sept. 16.

“Breckenridge is extremely fortunate to have a community that supports TSTC,” Associate Provost Debbie Karl said before announcing the scholarships, which totaled $4,500.

Although not all of the students were able to attend the event, the following scholarships were announced at the lunch:

  • Sara Setters, Chemical Dependence Counseling student, received a Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation scholarship.
  • Raquel Rios, Chemical Dependence Counseling student, received a Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation scholarship.
  • Leslie Munoz, Business Management Technology student, received a Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation scholarship.
  • Carmen Guhse, Chemical Dependence Counseling student, received a Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation scholarship.
  • Noah Martin, Welding Technology student, received a Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation scholarship.
  • Donesha Johnson, Vocational Nursing student, received the Burrell McKelvain Scholarship.
  • Mindy Casto, Chemical Dependence Counseling student, received a CDC REACH Club scholarship.
  • Angel Morales, Chemical Dependence Counseling student, received a CDC REACH Club scholarship.
  • Kerri Johnston-Hall, Chemical Dependence Counseling student, received a CDC REACH Club scholarship.
  • William (Garrett) Brennen, Welding Technology student, received the Breckenridge Rotary Club scholarship.
  • Justin Wood, Welding Technology student, received the TSTC Texan Success Scholarship.
  • Elizabeth Lobstein, Vocational Nursing student, received the Quality Enhancement Plan Scholarship.

On hand to present the scholarships were Virgil Moore with the Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation; Ivy Delong, Chemical Dependency Counseling instructor; Jonathan Newton with the Rotary Club of Breckenridge; Delton McGuire, senior field development officer for TSTC; and Burrell McKelvain, retired TSTC-Breckenridge Dean/Provost.

Following the presentation of the scholarships, attendees had a hamburger lunch and played a game of football-related bingo for a variety of prizes.
