Breckenridge Woman’s Forum kicks off new season, launches fundraiser
The Breckenridge Woman’s Forum officially kicked off its new season on Tuesday, Sept. 22, when members gathered for an afternoon of fellowship, food and community news.
The season opener featured a sunflower theme organized by event hostesses Judy Hart, Pat Knight, Sharon Wimberley, Lisa Echols, Mary Thompson and Ann Miller. Members enjoyed lunch catered by Mi Familia restaurant, and Linda Lippe won the door prize, which was donated by Jean Edwards.
The highlight of the meeting was a presentation on Palo Pinto State Park delivered by guest speaker Katie Fisher, full-time park ranger and lead park interpreter. Fisher shared insights into Texas’s newest state park — located nearby at 100 Park Road 77 in Strawn, Texas — and highlighted its variety of recreational opportunities, including hiking trails, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, canoeing, and wildlife viewing. 75th Anniversary Fundraiser Announced
The Woman’s Forum also recently announced its upcoming “Shop Breckenridge Raffle” fundraiser to help preserve the historic Breckenridge Woman’s Forum building. Marking 75 years of community service, the club is raising funds to purchase a new air conditioning and heating unit, as well as finance other necessary building renovations.
Raffle tickets are available for $5 each or five tickets for $20. Prizes featured in the raffle include:
• $200 in gift cards from Bertie and Olif, United Supermarket and Walmart
• $100 in gift cards from McDonald’s, Sonic, W-5, and Vintage Butterfly
• $100 in cash, donated by Master’s Chiropractor
• $100 grill package from Big Ed’s Boss Sauce (donated by Holly Medford Edgar)
The official drawing will take place on Nov. 18. All proceeds will directly support the building’s HVAC replacement and restoration projects.
