While under Hospice Care, Elton Gerald Folsom died September 2, 2026, at Breckenridge, Texas, with his caregiver, Katherine Pittman, and good friends Bart and Jamie Matthews by his side.

When the Trinity Company whistle blew at high noon, Elton Gerald Folsom was born to parents Eugene Gerald Folsom and Addie Sarah Frazier on February 16, 1946, at Ralls, Texas, with his older brother, Loyd Wayne (Wendeborn) Folsom, to welcome him. He spent his early years in Ralls and attended Ralls High School. He married Barbara Gayle Powell on May 6, 1966, at Crosbyton, Texas. To their union were born three sons, Michael Gerald Folsom, Patrick “Shane” Folsom and Robby Lynn “Rob” Folsom. Afterwards, the couple divorced.

Gerald was a plasterer by trade at many construction sites. Later, he owned and operated a lawn care business. His great passion was fishing that began at his mother’s side. He found enjoyment watching the hummingbirds at his feeder.

He was a member of the Choctaw Nation.

Those that survive are his five granddaughters: Katelyn Blanton, Michaela (Troy) Bradford, Brittany (Spencer) Payne, Chelsae (BaBack) Mehdipour, and Courtney Folsom; and grandchildren he claimed as his own, Destiny Vickers, Faith Vickers and Jayme Vickers; and 11 great-grandchildren; nephew, Lance Folsom, and several cousins; and his close friends Tracie Folsom and Jeanne Posey, his caregiver.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brother; his sister, Barbara Louise Wendeborn; and his beloved sons.

With great sadness, we will miss Gerald. We are grateful that he has been released from his earthly life to no longer suffer and to go meet his Lord and Savior.

At his request, his body has been donated to Texas Tech Medical Center.
