Upcoming weeks filled with back-to-school activities in Breckenridge
The Breckenridge community and school district will be hosting several events leading up to the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 10.
SMH Back to School Bash
On Tuesday, July 28, Stephens Memorial Hospital will host its annual Back to School Bash from 4 to 6 p.m. in the hospital’s dining room; enter at the main entrance at 200 S. Geneva St.
They will be handing out free backpacks with commonly requested school supplies, as well as snow cones and immunization information. Students must be present to receive a backpack.
Fill the Bus
A variety of local businesses are participating in the Fill the Bus campaign, hosting donation boxes at their locations. On Saturday, Aug. 1, the fundraising finale will take place at Walmart from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you’d like to donate school supplies before Aug. 1, visit any of the following businesses to drop off supplies: Clear Fork Bank, Interbank, Graham Savings, Walmart, United Supermarket, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Delta Oil & Gas, Resource Care medical clinic, First Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, ONE Church, St. Andrews Church, Victory Life Church, First Christian Church, BISD administration office and the Breckenridge Police Department.

Important Dates
- First day of school: Monday, Aug. 10
- Meet the Teacher night (elementary students): 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 6
- BHS schedule pickup: BHS incoming 11th and 12th grader, 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 4; incoming 9th and 10th grader, 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 5.
- FISH Camp for incoming BHS freshmen: 2-4 p.m., Aug. 6
- BJHS schedule pickup: Incoming 7th and 8th graders, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aug. 5
- Bronco Roundup for incoming 6th grade students and parents, 6 p.m., Aug. 5, LT Cook Gymnasium
