Sue Chaney
Sue Chaney, age 94, of Breckenridge, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 27, 2026. Per her wishes, the family will have a memorial service at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.
Shirley Sue Hamil was born on August 4, 1931, in Breckenridge, Texas, to parents, John Edward Hamil and Vera Juanita Black Hamil. She grew up and attended schools in California. After graduation, she worked in the Land and Title office in California. Later in life, after her retirement, she returned to Breckenridge and her home place. Sue was an avid reader, even enjoying audio books after losing her vision. She was a great role model and loved by so many in her life and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by the Chaney family.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Villa Haven for the excellent care given to Sue.
