Ina Mirl Reynolds
Ina Mirl Reynolds, 86, of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away on April 4, 2026. A private family viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 10, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories in Breckenridge, Texas, with Mr. Jimmy Rogers officiating.
Ina was born on May 20, 1939, in Brushy Creek, Texas, to Robert Lee “Bob” and Izzy Winnie (Klutz) Guthrie. She was a simple country woman who loved cooking and caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening until she was no longer physically able and could often be found loading up to go fishing at a moment’s notice. Ina was always the life of the party. She loved fiercely and believed in strong discipline, never hesitating to send you to pick out your own switch from the tree out front if needed.
On October 9, 1956, Ina married the love of her life, John Benjamin “JB” Reynolds, in Palestine, Texas. In the 1960s after already bearing seven children, they moved their family to Knox City, Texas, where they raised their eight children and many grandchildren for decades. Ina and JB worked incredibly hard to provide for their family. Ina proudly expressed her love for them through photographs, memoirs, décor, and especially the many knickknacks carefully arranged throughout her home, each one placed just right, and she always knew if one was even slightly out of place.
Ina lived a fruitful life devoted to her family. She is survived by five of her eight children, Betty Lou Collins of Burleson, Texas; Diana Jo Reynolds of Knox City, Texas; Linda Kay Reynolds of Breckenridge; Billy Ray (Tate) Reynolds of Breckenridge; and Kathy Ann Reynolds Benson of Throckmorton. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, Aaron, Megan, Dwayne, Alishia, Justin, Jeremy, Patrick, Amanda, Kayla, Sarah, Kristin, Brooke, Miranda Jo, Brittany, Tammie, Bubba, Laura, Sadie, Karla, Dylan, Christian, Jonathon, Nickelos, Jacob, Adam, and Anthony, along with 65 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren on the way, all of whom she loved and adored. Ina is also survived by a precious sister, Ethel “Sister” Berryhill of Palestine, Texas, whom she cherished dearly.
Ina Mirl is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Benjamin “JB” Reynolds; her parents, Bob and Winnie Guthrie; her son, John Reynolds; her daughters Johnie Reynolds Brown and Jennifer Renae Horton; her sons-in-law Ricky Vasquez and Pete Brown; and her siblings Sam, Luke, Wayne, Bill, Buddy, Norris, Ann, and Dickie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Methodist Church food pantry, and may also be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be left at meltonkitchens.com.
