Glenn McGee and his wife, Michelle, are from Graham. Their son, Drew, and his wife, Morgan, and their son, Myers, live in Dallas. The McGees’ daughter, Anna James, and her husband, Wesley, moved to Breckenridge about a year ago with their daughters Sadie and Sarah (and another on the way any day now). “It’s just a small family business,” Glenn McGee said.

The new storage facility, located at 1201 N. Breckenridge Ave., offers 56 units, ranging in size from 5-by-10-feet to 15-by-15-feet with prices ranging from $79 to $225 per month. All of the units are accessible from the interior of the building and feature wide garage-style doors to make moving in bulky items easy.

The building is climate-controlled and is kept at 55-60 degrees during the winter and 78 to 80 degrees during the summer, McGee said.

“We hope that it’s something that will be a value-added thing for Breckenridge,” he told the small crowd touring the building on Friday, Feb. 27. “We’re excited about being a part of the Breckenridge business community. my daughter moved here about a year and a half ago, and as we come over and see the grandkids, which we do on a fairly regular basis, we’ve been really impressed with what’s going on in Breckenridge. And, you know, downtown and Walker Street just really seems to be invigorated, and we’re just glad to be a part of it.

“We think we’re bringing something to town that hadn’t been here before,” McGee continued. “And hopefully it will be something that people find the need for, and we can meet that service. … The facilities open 24/7. It has a coded-entry access. The hallways have cameras on every hallway. We keep security cameras in the office, so we have extra security that way. We’re just excited to be here. We’ve got room to go up the hill and build two or three more. So if we fill this one quickly, we’ll do that, too.”

McGee said he envisions the storage units being used to store furniture, artwork, family heirlooms, etc.

He has previously owned similar storage facilities in Graham, Iowa Park and Olney, but this is the only one he owns now.
