Brian McBride
What office are you seeking? Stephens County Constable
What is your current occupation?
Stephens County Constable
Tell us a little bit about your family.
My beautiful wife, Ashley McBride, is from Breckenridge. We met in 2014 and were married in 2017. We have 3 wonder boys, Jarek, who is 16, Brawner, 13 and Brantley, 6 years old, who has non-verbal Autism. We live in the county where my wife, when she is not working, tends to her small farm of animals and gardening. We are a loving, Christian family that believes in giving back to the community.
What are your community involvements/civic affiliations?
I am a volunteer firefighter with the Wayland Volunteer Fire Department. I am a past member of the Elks Lodge. My wife and I are very active in the Autism Community, both locally and statewide. Most of my local contributions come while I am at work. Being Constable gives me the opportunity to meet people face to face and speak with them about their needs. This allows me to see first-hand if a citizen is in need and help them to get assistance. We have a lot of citizens that are in need of daily necessities but won’t just come out and ask for help.
What is your education/military service?
I have been in Law Enforcement for over 30 years. I received my Peace Officers License in 1991 from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office. Since then I have received more than 1800 hours of TCOLE training including Basic Instructor, Crisis Intervention, Intoxilyzer Operator, Active Attack Management as well as many others. I came to Breckenridge in 2014 and started working for them as a Patrolman. In 2016 I left Breckenridge and accepted a job with the Dallas Marshal’s Office, where I worked the city of Dallas serving warrants and later was transfer to the city jail as a supervisor running the jail and approving all reports and intakes. In 2018, as a family, we decided to return to Breckenridge where I worked for Breckenridge PD and eventually became the K9 Officer. I attained my Master Peace Officer in 2018. In January of 2022 I accepted a job with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office where I remand a Patrol Deputy until my appointment as Constable in May of 2025. Since being Constable I have taken many of the courses specific to Constable’s Office, like Civil Process Service, Court Security and updates on Process Services.
What training, experiences and characteristics qualify you for this position?
I believe that in my 30 plus years of being in Law Enforcement has not only given me the chance to experience various roles as an officer, Investigations, K9 Officer, Narcotics, etc.) but it also has given me the chance to gain empathy for citizens. We usually are in contact with citizens when they are experiencing chaos and heartbreak. I have always treated people the way I would like my own family treated. Being Constable has allowed me to take a much slower approach while contacting citizens and allows me to listen to them and possibly find a way to help.
What do you think are the most critical issues facing Stephens County and what would you do to address them, if elected?
In my opinion, the most critical issues in Stephens County right now are, 1) We have citizens here that are having major Mental Health issues but don’t have the resources or funds to get proper help. I will continue to assist families, and individuals, to find resources for them to get better. I feel that the Mental Health system in Texas needs more funding and resources available for everyone. 2) Like other places in Texas, I feel that we have a drug problem in Stephens County and will continue to assist the other agencies in combating this issue. In my opinion, if we start getting the drugs under control then it will also start dropping other crimes as well.
Describe a personal accomplishment of which you are proud of and how it helps make you the best candidate for the office.
Personal Accomplishment: I would have to say that finding the love of my life, Ashley McBride. The one who supported and believed in me since we have been together. She is the one that helped me make the decision to apply for this Constable position. She is always reminding me to stay grounded and really get to know the people I am contacting. And since being Constable I can say that I love the job and serving the citizens of Stephens County.

What office are you seeking? Stephens County Constable
What is your current occupation?
Sergeant with the Breckenridge Police Department
Tell us a little bit about your family.
I have been with my wife since 2003 and married since 2012. I have raised two children who both graduated from Breckenridge High School. One of my children has moved and lives on his own in another city where he works and enjoys life. My other child is currently enrolled in college and lives on campus. My wife works for a local retailer and is a member of the management staff and has been for several years.
What are your community involvements/civic affiliations?
Active member of the Hubbard Creek Volunteer Fire Department
Active member of the Breckenridge Bass Club and have over the last two years been able to put on the Bobby Rogers High School Scholarship fundraiser tournament and have given out over $15,000 in scholarships to date.
What is your education/military service?
I graduated from the Navarro College Fire Academy in 2005. I graduated from the Navarro College Police Academy in 2010. I have taken some college courses through Vernon College.
What training, experiences and characteristics qualify you for this position?
I have 15 years of experience as a law enforcement officer. Some of this experience is within a larger jurisdiction with the Vernon Police Department. The largest majority of my law enforcement career has been with both the City of Breckenridge and Stephens County Sheriff’s Office serving the citizens of this county. Currently in my career I have accrued 1824 hours of continuing education and continue to seek and obtain more. I currently hold an Advance Peace Officer License and am working to obtain my Masters. I am a certified instructor for ALERRT which is Advance Law Enforcement Rapid Response which is a mandated training requirement for all law enforcement for active shooter situations.
What do you think are the most critical issues facing Stephens County and what would you do to address them, if elected?
I believe some of the most critical issues facing Stephens County include health and safety code violations, domestic violence, and drug use. While the office of Constable does not directly control every aspect of these challenges, it is still a vital law enforcement role that can make a real difference.
As Stephens County Constable, I would be a certified peace officer with the same duties and responsibilities as other law enforcement officers. In that role, I would actively support the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and the Breckenridge Police Department in addressing drug use, drug dealing, and domestic violence whenever and wherever I am able to assist.
In addition, I would work to address health and safety concerns throughout the county by using existing state laws under the Texas Health and Safety Code. This includes holding property owners accountable for dilapidated structures, unsafe conditions, and piles of trash or refuse, and working to ensure those issues are properly corrected and removed. Improving these conditions not only enhances public safety but also helps protect property values and quality of life for our residents.
Describe a personal accomplishment of which you are proud of and how it helps make you the best candidate for the office.
I do not really have a personal accomplishment that I would say I’m specifically proud of. This is because I do not look at the things I have done in such a way. I would say that I am most proud of the nearly 13 years I have faithfully served the citizens of the City of Breckenridge and Stephens County as a law enforcement officer. Serving this community with integrity, honesty, fairness, and transparency. All traits I would continue to uphold as Stephens County Constable.
