Jimmy Speake
Jimmy Dwayne Speake, 66, of Breckenridge, Texas, entered into eternal life into the loving arms of Jesus peacefully in his sleep January 18, 2026.
Jimmy was born on August 4, 1959, in Athens, Texas, to Jimmie Lee Speake and Juanita Cross Speake. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1977. While in school, Jimmy was well liked by his classmates, leading to him being voted “Most Popular” by the student body. Jimmy excelled in football, earning him a football scholarship to Stephen F. Austin College; however, that stage of his life was cut short because of a bad car wreck. Jimmy then enlisted in the United States Air Force. Jimmy served his country until being Honorably Discharged. He then returned to Breckenridge and began working in his father’s successful business, Jim’s Truck Service. In the late 1990s, Jimmy and his sister, Danielle, became co-owners of the Truck Service and operated it for several years. Then, Jimmy, who was well trained in machine work in high school, went to work for the nationally known local business R.E. Dye Manufacturing. Jimmy worked there for many years. Finally, Jimmy went to work for Jonell Filtration, where he worked until retiring in June 2025.
Jimmy touched so many lives because of his big heart and larger than life personality. He was often the life of the party, but he was always a good, dedicated friend. He has left an indelible mark on the memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Jimmy was a cherished member of our community, and he was very active in his community because of his heart of gold and generous spirit. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand in service organizations or to help a friend or neighbor. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge 1480, a member of the local Masonic Lodge, and an active member of the local VFW Post 7767 Auxiliary as Chaplin. The memory of his tireless efforts will continue to inspire others.
Jimmy loved shooting pool, singing karaoke, and telling jokes and stories. Jimmy could make any day brighter with his comedic, friendly personality, his compassion and kindness. He will be sorely missed by family, friends and his local community.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Lee Speake and Juanita Speake, and a bonus daughter, Renee Kan. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Aragon and her husband, Camilo Aragon, of Stafford, Virginia; his sister, Danielle Speake of Breckenridge, Texas; a granddaughter, Addisyn Aragon, of Stafford, Virginia; a grandson, Damian Aragon, of Stafford, Virginia; a nephew, Russell Blue and wife, Stephanie Blue, of Breckenridge, Texas; a nephew, Lee Blue and wife, Mary Blue, of Peaster, Texas; , and a niece, Christal Herrell and her husband, Tom Herrell, of Moran, Texas; his bonus kids, Bear Grissom, Clay Grissom, Matt Langford; and countless friends.
