Walter Harrison
Walter Harrison, age 78, of Breckenridge, passed away, Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 19, at Morehart Mortuary. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.
William Walter Harrison was born August 25, 1947, in Ranger, Texas, to parents, Percy Mannon Harrison and Mary Frances Davis Harrison. He attended school and then joined the United States Army. While in the service, he was a sharpshooter and served in the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne. He served several years until his honorable discharge. On June 10, 1970, Walter married Mary Lou Gerecht in Breckenridge. The two worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife at the Possum Kingdom State Park for several years where Walter worked in maintenance and construction, and they later ran a gas plant at Eliasville for some time. Walter had also worked at Bell Helicopter when he was younger. Later, Walter met and married Deborah Reeder in Breckenridge and they have made many memories together over the years. Walter was a man of many talents and skills, some might even call him a Renaissance man. He knew more about cars, motorcycles and machines than just about anyone and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles in his free time. He will be remembered as “one in a million” and “honest as the day is long”. Walter was always willing to help someone in need, whether that be changing a tire, delivering food, or even giving the shirt off his own back.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and one infant son, Joseph Harrison.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Harrison; and two sons, William Walter Harrison, Jr. and Billy Harrison.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net.
