The Breckenridge Fine Arts Center is celebrating the season with several holiday displays, an online fundraiser and a new photography competition.

The “Deck the Walls” online wreath auction is currently live, serving as the center’s fall fundraiser. Local artists and businesses have donated one-of-a-kind wreaths to support the BFAC’s creative programs and exhibitions.

Participating artists include Carla Hill with Main Street Floral, the Breckenridge Library, the Swenson Memorial Museum, Paula Grissom with Farmhouse Threads, Shayla Speck with House of Flowers, Leslie Blackerby with Lolli’s Boutique, Luke Grider, Tisha Pugh and Doylene Land with Santa Novella Art Studio.

The nine wreaths are pictured on the BFAC’s Facebook page, where online bidding is open. To make a bid, bidders need to comment on the specific wreath they’re bidding on with the price they are bidding. The highest bidders will be contacted after the auction closes at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Throughout the Christmas season, the BFAC is also featuring a Christmas Village display using Dept. 56 collectibles from the collection of the late Travis Toland, a former BFAC employee.

And, in the BFAC’s main gallery, a quilt show featuring 41 quilts is on exhibit through Dec. 31.

The display includes quilts in a variety of sizes, designs, colors and from a wide-range of dates. One of the notable quilts on display is a 1940s quilt that belonged to the late Virginia Toland, Jerry Toland’s mother. It was quilted by her Aunt Pearl, and the exhibit includes a letter written by Aunt Pearl describing the family clothing that was used to create the quilt’s pieces.

The center has also opened its Winter Photo Contest to professionals and hobbyists. Participants are invited to capture landmarks, landscapes, events or other subjects that celebrate Stephens County’s heritage during December, January and February. The deadline for submissions is midnight on March 5. Photos can be submitted online at https://form.jotform.com/Breckenridge_Fine/winter.

The results of the Fall Photo Contest will be announced soon.

The BFAC is located at 207 N. Breckenridge Ave. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, visit the website www.breckenridgefineart.org or call the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center at 254-559-6602.
