Local Humane Society to host Pet Photos with Santa on Dec. 7, Wags & Whiskers 5K on Dec. 13
The Stephens County Humane Society is holding two fundraising events this month — Pet Photos with Santa on Sunday, Dec. 7, and the Wags & Whiskers 5K and Furry Fun Run on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Pet Photos with Santa will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Breckenridge Tractor Supply, 3732 W. Walker St. Digital images will cost $20, and there can be more than one pet in the photo. All proceeds will benefit the Stephens County Humane Society.
Then, on Saturday, Dec. 13, the 11th annual Wags & Whiskers 5K and Furry Fun Run is scheduled to take place in the Breckenridge City Park, 601 E. Walker St. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Stephens County Humane Society to cover food, housing, medical care and transport expenses.
Participants may register online on the Race Day Event Services website or onsite on the day of the race. Anyone who would like to make a donation to the SCHS may do so on the Race Day website, as well; on the page for the Wags & Whiskers race (linked above), click the “Donate” button on the left of that webpage.
Through Dec. 12, pre-registration for the 5K costs $30 for those age 18 and older, $20 for 17 and younger, and $15 for the Fun Run for all ages.
On race day, the on registration fees will cost and additional $5, $35 and $25 for the 5K and $20 for the Fun Run.
According to the organizers, well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome to participate with their humans.
Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division and to the top overall male and female runners.
The award categories will include male and female divisions for the following age brackets:
12 & Under
13-17
18-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69
70+
The race day schedule will be as follows:
Check in – 8-8:45 a.m.
5K start – 9 a.m.
Fun Run start – 9:15 a.m.
