Craig Thetford

It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Craig Lee Thetford, aged 60, on June 17, 2025. A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at One Church in Breckenridge, Texas, on August 21, at 1 p.m., with Mike Spencer officiating.
A larger-than-life soul whose spirit was as bright and enduring as his smile. A beloved son, brother, father, uncle, friend, and papa (which was a title he wore with pride and joy).
Born on July 26, 1964, in Ranger, Texas, to C.L. Thetford and Shirley Turner Thetford. Craig lived a life defined by generosity, hard work, and a love for his family and community. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan and loved riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, as well as spoiling his grandchildren. He was the kind of man who never sat still, always the first to lend a hand when needed.
For many years, Craig ran a successful roofing company (Craig’s Roofing), a true boots-on-the-ground business owner who never took a backseat. But retirement for him was never about slowing down. With the same heart and drive he brought to his work and family, Craig trained to become a volunteer firefighter. Fighting wildfires wasn’t just a cause; it was his calling, and he gave it his all.
Craig is survived by his mother, Shirley Thetford; one daughter, Cara Dianne Thetford;,one sister, Dianne Thetford Cramer; one nephew, Miles Mercer; one granddaughter, Kyla Thetford Curtis; three grandsons, Barrett Jackson, Cody Gibson, and Brody Gibson; great-granddaughter, Reagan Jackson; great-grandson, James David Jackson; many cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, C.L. Thetford, and his son Cody Lee Thetford.
In true Thetford fashion, please come as you are, bring your best memories, your biggest smiles, and stories worth telling.
The family requests that donations be made to the James Canyon CC in honor of Craig’s spirit of service, these can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences may be made at meltonkitchens.com.
He was one of the good ones, and we were lucky to call him ours.
