Debra Kay Markham, of Breckenridge, passed away on July 30, 2025, at 71 years of age. Her graveside service at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene will be held on Tuesday, August 5, beginning at 1 p.m.

There will also be a “Celebration of Life” on Saturday, August 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at “Venue 1842” in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Known by many as Debbie Colby Cox, she was a wife, mother, and grandmother. Debbie is survived by her husband, Terry of Breckenridge; her children; and her grandchildren.

Nana, as her kids and grandkids called her, was a silent warrior, protective and nurturing for those she loved. Fire sweeps through forests and causes catastrophic damage, but life always regrows from the forest floor. Nana was that forest floor, building a strong forest that has weathered fires and damage. The ground shook when Debbie passed, but the forest will continue to grow from her undying love.

In honor of Debbie’s life and legacy, and in lieu of flowers (flowers will not be accepted), the family kindly requests donations to support the local school community of Carrollton Farmers Branch, one that shaped Debbie’s life, her children’s, and the many families she touched through her years of service at CFBISD.

Donations can also be made at https://tinyurl.com/gofundmedebbie.
