Steven Crockett

Steven Crockett, 64, of Breckenridge, Texas, passed away on May 23, 2025, in a Lubbock hospital. His graveside service at Hart Cemetery will be held on Monday, June 2, beginning at 11 a.m., with Tommy Wolfe officiating. The family will welcome friends for a visitation at Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories on Sunday, June 1, between 4 and 5 p.m.
Steven Mark Crockett was born May 9, 1961, in Breckenridge, Texas, to parents, Ronald Crockett and Judy Wimberley Crockett. He grew up in Breckenridge and attended schools there, graduating in 1979.
The family spent all of their free time in the summers camping and water skiing at Possum Kingdom Lake, where Steve learned to ski at age five. He became an excellent skier and by his early teens could ski barefoot.
Steve remained in Breckenridge for several years following graduating from high school, then moved to Decatur and the Dallas area for a few years. He returned to Breckenridge in 2009, where he lived until it became necessary, because of declining health problems, for him to be moved to a nursing facility.
Steve was a member of the Church of Christ and attended the congregation that meets on Elliott Street in Breckenridge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Crockett; an infant sister, Rhonda Carol Crockett; and both sets of grandparents, Charlie R. (Pete) and Alta Crockett, and Dennis and Belle Wimberley.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Crockett; one uncle, Tommy Wimberley his wife, Sharon; and one aunt, Nina Wimberley.
