Vida Jones
Vida Armitta Jones, 80, of Breckenridge, Texas, passed away on May 13, 2025. Her funeral service will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, Albany, Texas, on Saturday, May 17, beginning at 10 a.m., with Rev. Martin Young and Rev. Wayne Coleman officiating. The family will welcome friends for a visitation on Friday, May 16, at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home in Breckenridge, between 6 and 7 p.m. Her interment at Albany Cemetery will follow under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral home.
Vida was born on May 16, 1944, in Ranger, Texas, to Norma Jean and Jack Stephen. She married to Joe Doyle Jones on April 28, 1967, and their marriage blossomed with five sons and four daughters.
Together, Vida and Joe helped start the Friendship Baptist Church in Albany.
Vida also loved going to the movies, playing cards with her family, casino trips, and attending functions of her grandkids and great-nieces and nephews. She adored her family and was at her happiest when she was with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Norma Jean and Jack Stephen; husband, Joe Doyle Jones; siblings, Ernest Stephen and Jacqulyne Crook; and her sons Joe Allen Jones and Julien Jones.
Vida is survived by her children, Rickey Jones of Hobbs, New Mexico, Amanda Perez and husband Manuel of Breckenridge, Becky Wade and husband Johnny of Breckenridge, Edith Jones of Breckenridge, Kathy, Joey, and William Jones; and her five sisters, one brother, many grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.
