Marie’s Bakery offers fresh-baked goods, breakfast and lunch in downtown Breckenridge

A new bakery located inside Bertie & Olif in downtown Breckenridge is serving up more than just pastries — it’s sharing a legacy. Marie’s Bakery LLC, owned by Lexi Tidwell, offers a freshly made menu for breakfast, lunch, and custom desserts, all rooted in family tradition.

“My bakery’s name is Marie’s Bakery LLC. It’s based off of my grandmother, who recently passed away,” Tidwell said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday afternoon, May 12. “It’s my middle name as well, so I just figured as a tribute to my grandmother and to be a part of me as well, we’d name it Marie’s Bakery.”
The shop features a rotating selection of cupcakes, brownies, pastries, and meals. “We do custom cakes here. We do different flavors of cupcakes, monthly, different flavors of brownies, just all sorts of pastries,” Tidwell said.
The menu also includes breakfast and lunch items, such as quiche, avocado sourdough toast, chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches, grilled cheese, chicken pot pie, and more. They also serve coffee, lattes, hot tea, iced tea and soft drinks.
“You can eat in the store or you can get it to go for breakfast and lunch,” she said. “We do homemade biscuits and gravy. We do scones, cinnamon rolls, yogurt parfaits — that are usually made with fresh lemon curd — that are made in house, and we also do berry compotes in the parfaits.”
The bakery is a family effort, with help from Tidwell’s husband, Dodge Bumguardner, and her sister, Natalie Kunze.
On hand for the ribbon cutting on Monday afternoon were Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce members, as well as Lexi and Dodge’s daughters, Penelope, 4, and Juniper, 2.
Marie’s Bakery, located at 207 W. Walker St. inside Bertie & Olif Boutique, is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Customers can place custom orders in-store or online via the shop’s Facebook page, @mariesbakeryllc.
