Jose Garcia

Jose C. Garcia, age 53, passed on from this life on April 24, 2025, in Abilene, Texas. The Funeral Mass service at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic church will be held on Thursday, May 1, beginning at 1 p.m. with Rev. Colombus officiating.
He was born on February 26, 1972, in Durango, Mexico, to parents Beatrice and Antonio Garcia. He grew up in Breckenridge and was a proud member of the Breckenridge High School class of 1991. After graduation, he proudly attended a diesel mechanic school in Dallas. Jose worked as a Chief Engineer on the American Commercial Barge Line. He was very deep in his religion and his ancestors’ beliefs.
Jose was a one-of-a-kind man, and he loved helping others. He loved riding around listening to music with his daughter, having quality time, and trying new places to eat with his daughter. He loved his work, spending time with his family, as well as collecting and restoring cars. He was loved by many; he was constantly joking and playing around, full of joy. Always trying to make someone’s day brighter. He was willing to give advice and to help no matter what. He passed away so suddenly from a stroke. He was very loved, and he will be missed dearly!
Jose is survived by his daughter Shyla Marie Garcia; grandson, Andrew Glenn; brothers, Mario, Manuel, Martin Garcia, and sisters-in-law Irene and Mirna; brother-in-law, Fermin Olivas, and nieces, Maria and Marta Olivas; nephews, Tony, Martin Jr, Fede, Malcolm (Tony), James, Talmadge, Mario Jr, Manuel Jr, and Cameron; nieces, Mage, Lupe, Maria, Monica; 14 great-nephews, and 16 great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by parents, Beatrice and Antonio Garcia; brother, Reyes Garcia; and sister, Maria Olivas.
