Wayne McMullen
Wayne McMullen, 58, of Breckenridge, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at ONE Church, 1911 W. Walker St., with Steve Spoon and Michael Roach officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Morehart Mortuary.
Robert Wayne McMullen was born July 4, 1966, in Odessa, Texas, to Roger McMullen and Patsy Rodgers McMullen. Wayne started his career in law enforcement with the Breckenridge Police Department in 2008 and became the Fire Marshal in 2010. In 2013, he retired from the city of Breckenridge after 27 years and started working for the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office. He would then become the Constable for Stephens County in 2021. As many have seen stated, Wayne was more than a badge, he was a kind soul, a steady presence and the very definition of a public servant. He was a past member of the Ridge Runners Gun Club and Breckenridge Elks Lodge. Wayne gave selflessly to his community and will be missed by the countless lives that he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger McMullen; his grandparents, Edith and Brady Stout, Clara McMullen, and Sharon and Mildred Rodgers; his best friend and uncle, George Rodgers; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Wayne is survived by his mother, Patsy McMullen of Breckenridge; his sister, Kim Waters and husband Kennith of Albany; nieces, Kaylee Trammel and husband Kord of Breckenridge, and Kourtnee Cauble and husband Kasey of Albany; great-nieces, Channing and Remington Trammel; great-nephews, Truett Trammel and Rex Cauble; his partner, Dina Nichols of Breckenridge and her son, John Robert Nichols and wife Shalea; and his grandchildren, who lovingly called him PopPop, LJ and Winnie.
Honorary pallbearers are Jim Reeves, Kevin Roach, Justin Rose, Justin Shockley and James Barrera.
