Breckenridge Woman’s Forum members learn about Shriners Hospitals at recent meeting
By Mary Quinn Griffin/Breckenridge Woman’s Forum
The Breckenridge Woman’s Forum enjoyed a fabulous November meeting. The Thanksgiving meal was catered by United, and the hostesses were Mona Craig, Linda Burdic, Lynda Justus, Adele Jones and Diana Yanke.
The program was given by Illustrious Past Potentate Mike Wallach and Jerry Henderson from Moslah Temple Shrine in Fort Worth and was about Shriners Hospitals for Children. Buttons the clown (Royce Rose) and Snuggles the clown (Carl Russell) accompanied them and entertained the ladies before and after the program.
Shriners International is an organization based on the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief and truth. There are nearly 200 temples located throughout the world. The fraternity founded and continues to support the health care system as its official philanthropy.
As a nonprofit organization, Shriners Hospitals for Children relies on the generosity of Shriners, corporations and the general public to carry out its mission and improve the lives of children every day. There are 22 locations in three countries providing pediatric specialty care, research and teaching programs for medical professionals. All care and services are provided regardless of the families ability to pay. Children up to 18 are eligible for care if they can benefit from the specialized services available and acceptance is based solely on a child’s medical needs.
