Vernon Glenn
Vernon Glenn, age 64, of Breckenridge, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Bethany Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, at Morehart Mortuary.
Vernon Lee Glenn was born on March 23, 1960, in Breckenridge, Texas, to parents, V.L. Glenn and Ellen Ware Glenn. On June 10, 1977, he married Susan Wood in Breckenridge, Texas. The couple spent many wonderful years together raising their family and enjoying their grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, and fishing at the lake. Vernon had a heart for helping others and was involved with the local Toys for Tots organization for many years, now known as All His Children of Stephens County. He also helped his daughter, April, with the Kingdom’s Hope Chest ministry. Papa will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, V.L. and Ellen Ware; and his sister, Kay Smith.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan Glenn; three children, April Glenn Woolsey and husband Shane, Angela Glenn Byerly and husband Steven, John Glenn and wife Kesha; one brother, Don Glenn and wife Isabel; brother-in-law, Darrell Smith; grandchildren, Bra’Shana Stallings and husband Gabriel, Tyler Woolsey and wife Brandi, Mason Woolsey, Zane Glenn, Marley Glenn, Logan Bills, Shaden Hosking and husband Conner, Addison Gonzales, Ava Byerly, Jayme Vickers; one great-grandchild, Kashtyn Stallings; numerous nieces and nephews; and many adoptive grandchildren.

The organization aims to raise $4,000, which could be tripled to $12,000 through various matching programs, including the NewsMatch program and the Rural Partner Fund, which is supported by several major foundations.
Founded in 2017 by journalists Tony Pilkington and Carla McKeown, the Breckenridge Texan provides daily local news coverage, weekly newsletters, photo galleries, a community calendar, and obituaries. The outlet serves both local residents and people outside the community seeking information about Breckenridge and Stephens County, including potential new residents and businesses. They chose the non-profit structure to maintain local control of news coverage while minimizing the financial burden on the community.
