Frances Wilkerson, 99, of Breckenridge, Texas, died on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Woodlands Assisted Living in Eastland, Texas. A private family memorial service will be held at the Breckenridge Cemetery, under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Frances was born on September 3, 1925, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Robert and Isabelle Walker. She married Jim Wilkerson on March 26, 1944, in Breckenridge.

She was a teacher for 25 years and graduated from McMurry College, in Abilene, Texas. She loved teaching and working with children. She was also an avid bridge player and loved making and quilting quilts.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon W. Wimberley and husband Tommy of Breckenridge; one son, Ray Wilkerson and wife Karen of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Tab Stephens and wife, Keri of Austin, Kori Creswell and husband Will of Austin, and Lauren Murphy and husband Frost of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren: Sarah Stephens of Chicago, Illinois, Kyle Stephens of Tulsa, Oklahoma, George Murphy and Kate Murphy of Houston, Aubrey Creswell and Calton Creswell of Austin.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Robert and Isabelle Walker; sisters, Vida, Velma and Jennie, Lois, Leonida; and two brothers, Jimmy and RJ.

The family of Frances would like to thank The Woodlands staff for all their love and thoughtfulness. The Hospice helped her, and many thanks for their help in caring for her in her last moments.

Memorials can be made in Frances’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Cancer Society; donations may be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home office. Condolences may be made at meltonkitchens.com.
