Edwin Congdon
Edwin Guy Congdon, 63, of Breckenridge, passed away, with his loved ones by his side, on September 21, 2024. His memorial service at Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories will be held on Friday, September 27, beginning at 11 a.m., officiated by Adam Dixon.
Ed was born on September 9, 1961, to parents Eva and Robert Congdon, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. After completing his education in Michigan, Ed moved to Florida and lived there for a number of years, before settling in Breckenridge, Texas.
He worked as a welder/fabricator for Rocky Spencer and loved restoring cars and trucks in his spare time; he was also an avid NASCAR fan.
In 2006, he met his wife and best friend, Candi Johnston, who he loved dearly. They loved socializing and having BBQs with family and friends. Ed was a passionate pool and darts player. He also owned several guitars and loved all sorts of music, from Rock’ n Roll to Country.
Ed and Candi went to the New Destination Church in Breckenridge until health issues prevented them from going, but they are faithful Christians, and Candi is very happy knowing he is well now with the Lord.
Ed is preceded by his father, Robert (Bob) Congdon Sr, and his mother, Eva (Lacroix) Congdon; and his brothers Terry (Duke) Congdon and Arthur Dubay.
He is survived by Cara Brochu, Raymond, Christopher, and Rachel Congdon; wife, Candi Johnston; children Joe, and his partner Terry, Tommy, and Mandi. Ed is also survived by his sister Linda Stapper and her children; his brother, Robert Jr. and his stepchild and their mother Margaret; and his many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends Tommy M, Denton, Weldon, and Josh.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and can be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences may be made at meltonkitchens.com.
