Breckenridge students return to school on Wednesday, Aug. 7
Breckenridge’s elementary students had a chance to meet their teachers on Friday as East and South Elementary schools hosted their annual Meet-the-Teacher events. The first day of school for Breckenridge Independent School District will be on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
After last week’s events, including schedule pick-up for older students, the pre-First Day activities will wrap up with the Bronco Roundup for incoming sixth graders at Breckenridge Junior High will begin at 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, at BJHS.
Any other students who have not picked up their schedule or received their teacher information can contact the relevant school directly.
STATE OF TEXAS SALES TAX HOLIDAY
The State of Texas will offer back-to-school shoppers a break on Aug. 9-11 with the annual Sales Tax Holiday, although it will be a couple of days after the first day of school in Breckenridge.
On a variety of items, including backpacks, clothing, shoes, school supplies and more, there will be no sales tax charged, saving local shoppers about 8 percent on their shopping expenses. There is a complete list of what does and does not qualify for the exemption on the Texas Comptroller’s website (click here).
