11:49 2024

Jacob Travis Duncan, 39, of Justin, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior at his residence on July 5, 2024. Funeral service to honor his life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Bethany Baptist Church with JB Sparks officiating.

Jake, as he was formally known by his friends, had a zest for life and a fear and respect of the Good Lord that would give even the holiest man a run for their money. Jake loved football, specifically the Texas Longhorns, he loved to go fishing, and more than anything, loved his two little yorkies, Duke and Dixie.

Jake was the embodiment of working hard, but great at balancing life with playing hard. He had an accomplished career as a surgical nurse in an outpatient surgical center for many years and enjoyed spending his free time doing things such as hitting a good fishing hole or catching a football game at the UT stadium. Jake had a sense of humor that was wholly unmatched and a smile and laugh that could ignite a whole room. Jake will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jake is preceded in death by his late grandfather, Travis McElyea; and his mother, Allena McElyea Duncan; his cousin Ashley Miller Bearden; as well as numerous great aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his father, Mike Duncan; brothers, Heath Duncan and wife Miranda, and Dakotah Duncan and wife Beatrice; and his sister Hannah Duncan and partner David. Jake leaves behind his nieces Caiden Gonzales, Addison Duncan, Alliana Duncan, and soon to be born Mallena Ortiz, as well as his nephews Dominic Duncan, Tripp Duncan, and Austin Ortiz.

Memorial can be made in Jacob’s honor to Cross Timbers Church, Argyle, Texas, and may be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences may be made at meltonkitchens.com.
