James “Jim” Overton
James “Jim” Overton, 75, of Austin, Texas, passed away on May 21, 2024. He was born on February 13, 1949, in Breckenridge, Texas. Jim was a man of faith, known for his kindness and caring nature.
He is survived by his brother, John Overton Jr. and his wife Karen; daughter, Rachel Overton, and her daughter, Chloe Rothenbach; Todd Panter and his wife Nancy, their daughters Sydney Wilson, Shelby Panter, and Sloane Panter; Brett Panter and his wife Analise, and their daughter India Panter and niece Sarah Overton Gallegos. He was preceded in death by his father, John Overton Sr., and mother, Elizabeth Overton.
Jim graduated from Breckenridge High School and later pursued higher education at the University of Texas in Austin. He was a devoted member of the Austin Baptist Church, where he found solace and community.
Jim had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy, including hunting, skeet shooting, spending time with family, attending UT football games, and being an active member of the Lion’s Club.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, at Austin Baptist Church (7016 Ribelin Ranch Dr, Austin, TX 78750). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Austin Baptist Church.
Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
