Ernest Boggs, age 78, of Breckenridge, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Andy Rodgers officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Hart Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at Morehart Mortuary.

Ernest Lee Boggs was born October 3, 1945, in Breckenridge, Texas, to parents Boonie King Boggs and Hattie Cozart Boggs. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy for several years until his honorable discharge. On October 11, 1969, Ernest married Cathie Ryerson. He worked for F&M Well service and later went back to school to become a drug counselor. He worked as a drug counselor at the Walker Sayle Unit in Breckenridge and also serviced electronics. Ernest enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Breckenridge Bass Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boonie and Hattie Boggs; and three siblings, Mary Hart Smith, Aleta Johnson and Boone Dale Boggs.

Ernest is survived his wife of 54 years, Cathie Boggs of Breckenridge; six children, Hattie Guhl and husband Wayne of Sylvania, Georgia, Ernest Boggs, Jr. and Andrew Boggs, both of Breckenridge, Melissa Ruiz and husband Noe of Snyder, Jonathan Boggs and William Boggs, both of Breckenridge; one sister, Nancy McCullough; eight grandchildren, Corbin Thurman, Quintyn Thurman, Brice Boggs, Sylvia Martinez, Skyler Martinez, Malcolm Scott, Marcus Scott and Bobby Dakota Boggs; and two great-grandchildren, Maverick Boggs and Paisley Boggs.
