Several fundraisers have been set up to benefit a Breckenridge family whose house was destroyed in a fire last Monday, March 11.

According to a post on the Breckenridge Fire Department’s Facebook page, firefighters responded to a structure fire call at the 1400 block of East Hullum Street shortly after 1 a.m. on March 11. The family made it out of the home, but the home was a total loss. Additionally, the Breckenridge Police Department and Sacred Cross EMS assisted at the scene.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to benefit Kayla Honea and her three sons, who lost most of their possessions in the fire. Additionally, an online auction, as well as a raffle, has been organized to raise funds. Click the following links for more details on each fundraiser:

  • GoFundMe account to benefit Kayla Honea and her family following house fire
  • The Kayla Honea’s online auction Facebook page lists many items that are being donated to raise funds for the family. Bidders may place bids on the posts for each individual item. Most of the auctions will end on March 31.
  • A drawing for a Blackstone grill will be held on April 20. Tickets cost $5 each or five for $20; all proceeds will go to the family. Tickets are available at Truman’s Beverage Barn and Cantina, 1618 N. Breckenridge Ave.; The Water Store, 1022 W. Walker St.; and the VFW Post 7767, 216 E. Williams St.
  • The VFW also will host a benefit concert and brisket dinner on April 20. The concert will feature Matt Stapp and Mando Molina. It is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., and there will be a $5 minimum donation at the door. Additionally, brisket plates will be served at 4 p.m. for a $20 donation. Proceeds will benefit the family.
