Brenda Joyce Ball “The General,” 76, of Breckenridge died on March 8, 2024, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Keller, Texas.

The daughter of Gladys and Walter J Reynolds, Brenda was born in Breckenridge, Texas, on December 7, 1947. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1966. Brenda’s passion was serving people, first in the restaurant industry at the Dairy Delight, Dairy Mart, and Chaparral, and later in the dental profession for almost 50 years. For the last 6 years, she continued serving her community by working as a contract rural carrier delivering the mail to customers in Stephens and Young Counties.

Brenda’s home was a favorite gathering place for nieces, nephews, friends, and neighborhood children, many of whom enjoyed her Sunday afternoon roast, homemade banana pudding, handmade Christmas candies, and homemade pies. Brenda always had an extra plate for any last-minute guest.

Brenda was a member of the Lord’s Old Time Gospel Church in Breckenridge. While a member, she helped in the children’s Sunday school program and youth fellowship groups. Brenda made sure the church alter was adorned with fresh flowers for Sunday morning and sang in the church choir often performing with her sisters. Later, she attended Cedar Springs United Methodist Church.

Brenda’s creative talents included calligraphy, abstract art, and photography. She enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of her animals, which include her horses, cattle, chickens, guineas, cats, dogs, and pigs. She took great care in naming and caring for each of these animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter J and Gladys Hash Reynolds; two sisters, Billie Louise Reynolds and Barbara Reed; two brothers Wayne and Clarence Reynolds; four brothers-in-law, Roy Edgar, Jerry York, Leslie Schkade, and Don Reed; one niece, Tina Reynolds; and one nephew, Clay Schkade.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald Ralph Ball of Breckenridge, and a son, Jeff and daughter-in-law Ashley Ball of Keller. Grandchildren include Salina Ball and Warren Payne of League City and Ashlynn Ball of Keller and one great-grandson, Alton Warren Payne IV of League City. She is also survived by three sisters, Janett Schkade of San Angelo, Patsy York of Breckenridge, Nancy and husband Mike Hughes of Breckenridge; one brother, Larry Reynolds and wife Deborah of Breckenridge; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Reynolds and Jeanne Reynolds of Breckenridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on March 11, 2024, at the Reynolds Cemetery in Young County with Mike Spencer and Tom Beaty officiating.

Pallbearers include Roy Hughes, Dusty Hughes, Scotty Reynolds, Greg Schkade, Tommy Reynolds, Jeremy Edgar, and Jaime Mendez. Honorary pallbearers are Dickie Edgar and Wayne Schkade.
