Betty Browning, age 91, of Breckenridge, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the Hilltop Memorial Cemetery in Carrollton. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Michael Russell officiating. Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.

Betty Joyce Brown was born February 19, 1933, in Van Alstyne, Texas, to Larkin Willard Brown and Lena Esther Allen Brown. She graduated from Tom Bean High School. In 1966, Betty married Rufus “Bob” Browning. She worked as a secretary for National Bankers Life for several years and then in retail sales at Finishing Touch in Wichita Falls. Betty later went to work for Johnson Control in Irving and worked there until her retirement in 2000. She moved to Breckenridge from Wichita Falls around 2018. She enjoyed painting birdhouses and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larkin and Lena Brown; her husband, Rufus “Bob” Browning; and one daughter, Cynthia Jane Sumrell.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Lyn Russell and husband Randy of Breckenridge; four grandchildren, Michael Russell and wife Mary, Jason Kimball and wife Sorelle, Shannon Kloss and husband Donal, Lindsay Jo Stewart; and six great grandchildren.
