Melody Anne Anderson, 61, of Breckenridge, Texas, passed away at her residence on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Her family and friends will be celebrating her life on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Melody’s residence on Hubbard Creek Lake. The celebration will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Melody Anne Winker was born on July 4, 1962, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Eugene Winker and Betty Baskette Rodenbery. She graduated from Eunice High School in Eunice, New Mexico, in 1980. She married William Mark Anderson, and together they raised 2 children.

Melody was a stay-at-home mother until she decided to further her education. She started at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, New Mexico. She later moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, to finish her bachelor’s degree in psychology at College of the Southwest. After she received her degree in 1998, she began employment as a correctional officer with Eddy County Detention Center in Carlsbad, where she worked for several years. Melody then moved to Breckenridge and married Michael Blan Cutright. Together they purchased their home on Hubbard Creek Lake.

While at her lakeside residence, Melody loved to plant all types of flowers and different types of vegetables. She always made sure the birds had food for the winter, and she would sit and watch them for hours. Melody always made sure to cook beans and cornbread for her family when they came to visit – she made amazing beans! She always had her opinions about things, even if you didn’t want to hear them, but that was one of many things we all loved about her.

Melody was a daughter, mother, wife, sister, cousin, grandma, and friend. She was loved by many, and she will truly be missed.

Melody is survived by her husband, Michael Blan Cutright; mother, Betty Baskette; sister, Debbie Cates; along with her children and grandchildren: daughter, Cristina L. Anderson, and her children, Klayton C. Warren and Kyla S. Warren, all of Breckenridge; and son, Marcus W. Anderson and wife Tiffany, and their children, Keith “Bubba” Anderson, Jayne L. Anderson, Jordyn D. Anderson, Ayden J. Mallow and Bryce J. Mallow, all of Midland, Texas.

Memorial donations in Melody’s name can be made to an organization or charity of the donor’s choice and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Messages of condolence can be left online at meltonkitchens.com.
