Phyllis (Kilpatrick Schlaepfer) Durichek was a kind, generous and adventurous mom, Mema, wife, daughter, aunt and sister. She loved with all her heart and was loved by many. She was born to Edward Daniel and Myrtle Agnes (King) Kilpatrick on August 10, 1933, in Breckenridge, married Peter Durichek, Jr. on December 16, 1984, in Fort Worth, and departed this world January 29, 2024, in Keene.

She loved children (especially babies), animals, nature and the color lavender. She enjoyed bird-watching and was delighted when she’d find cardinals at her bird feeders. When her two sons were young, she helped them rescue several animals, including a skunk and squirrel.

She was a member of the Cleburne First Seventh Day Adventist Church. In her younger years, she was a certified lifeguard, earned her LVN, sang in the church choir and worked in positions as a hospital nurse, school nurse, and church secretary. She found comfort in spending time with family, singing hymns, reading the scriptures, and praying.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter in 2023; son, Robert “Robbie” Schlaepfer, Jr; daughters-in-law, Patsy (Elofson) Schlaepfer and Anna Kathleen (Sturre) Schlaepfer; son-in-law Phillip Walton; and all of her siblings, Kathryn Kilpatrick Cole, sweet Ouida Kilpatrick, Dorotha Kilpatrick Powers, Edward “Easy” Kilpatrick, Mabel Corine Kilpatrick Pope, Alta Kilpatrick Schlaepfer, Muriel Kilpatrick Gandee, and Jonell “Jody” Kilpatrick Trumbley.

Phyllis is survived by her son Charles “Rick” (Mildred) Schlaepfer of the Philippines; daughter-in-law Cindy Schlaepfer of Virginia, Minnesota; grandchildren, Angela Schlaepfer of Forest Hill, Texas, Charles (Lindsey) Schlaepfer of Crowley, Rebekah (Jesse) Tweten of Mt. Iron, Minnesota, Elizabeth “Libby” Schlaepfer of Aurora, Minnesota, Carrisa “Rissy” Schlaepfer of Virginia, Minnesota, and Felicia and Natasha Schlaepfer; great-grandchildren Jordan, Tyler of Forest Hill, Astaria of Burleson, Darren, Connor, Josh, and Alyssa of Mt. Iron, Minnesota, Jessica of Fargo, North Dakota, Damian of Aurora, Minnesota, and Atheus and Anestaysha of Virginia, Minnesota; step-daughter, Donna Walton of Burleson; step-son, Donald (Birdie) Durichek of Keene; step-grandchildren, Michal (Billy) Wood, Rachel Durichek, Ben Durichek, Ruth Durichek, Patricia (Ben) Westcott, and Donita (Joe) Avila; step-great-grandchildren, Alexi and Logan Wood, Vanessa and Benjamin Gregory Durichek, Aiden and Rylan Westcott, Joe Felipe, Sofia and Angela Avila, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas.

Funeral services for Phyllis Kilpatrick Schlaepfer Durichek, 90, of Keene, Texas, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Cleburne First Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Michael Musante officiating.

Burial will follow in Keene Memorial Park Cemetery with Charles Schlaepfer, Ben Westcott, Ben Durichek, Justin Trussell, and Joe Avila serving as pallbearers.
