Charlotte Bradford, age 101, of Breckenridge, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, in the Mount Zion Cemetery with Harley Clark officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Charlotte Louise Saffell was born on November 6, 1922, in Caddo, Texas, to parents, Homer C. Saffell and Vada B. Williams Saffell. Charlotte attended school in Caddo from grade 3 to 11, graduating from Caddo High School in 1940 as salutatorian of her class. She attended a riveting class in Wichita Falls, Texas, preparing herself to work in a Defense Plant during World War II. Charlotte went to work for the Defense Plant in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, not in riveting, but in the machine shop operating a milling machine. She also worked in the Los Angeles area. After the war, she attended a bookkeeping class, which helped her get employed by the junk yard in Breckenridge. Later, she kept books at the City Motor Company for Bill Kelly and the Buick House for Bill Bloodgett. She also worked for R.E. Dye Manufacturing as a milling machine operator. Charlotte married Walter E. Bradford at the Methodist parsonage in Caddo on February 17, 1951. Two children were born to Walter and Charlotte, Travis Edgar Bradford and Larry Karl Bradford. Charlotte was baptized on March 9, 1955, in the baptistery at First Baptist Church in Ranger. She later joined New Hope Baptist Church #3 in La Casa and later New Life Restoration Church in Breckenridge. On February 28, 1975, Walter E. Bradford passed away, and Charlotte remained living in La Casa until she moved to Breckenridge in 1977.

She was preceded in death by her family as follows: her husband, Walter E. Bradford; one son, Travis Bradford; and two sisters, Sybil C. Saffell Mason and Rachel LaVerne Saffell Kirby.

Mrs. Bradford is survived by a sister, Dorothy Lee Saffell Ramsey of Chula Vista, California; one son, Larry Bradford and wife Rhonda of Breckenridge; three grandchildren, Michael Delavergne of Decatur, Tori Baisch and husband Jason, and Lara Townson and husband Chad, all of Breckenridge; five great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Noah, Aliyah, Sayler and Maylea; four nieces and three nephews.

Honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Bradford will include: Mike Delavergne, Jaxon Baisch, Noah Baisch, Jason Baisch, Chad Townson, and Dane Clark.
