The owners and staff of American Discount Liquor, located at 3114 W. Walker St., celebrated the store’s grand opening with a Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Nov. 20.

The new store is owned by Mary and David Smelser, who have lived in Stephens County for six years. In those six years, they’ve gotten to know the community and have even become Buckaroo fans, buying season tickets and celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary at a Buckaroo football game.

American Discount Liquor is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (winter hours) Monday through Saturday. During the spring and summer, it will be open until 9 p.m. The store is closed on Sundays.

The store offers a variety of wine, beer and liquor. As soon as the cooler ready, it will offer cold beer. Additionally, the Smelsers are installing a drive-through window and will eventually have cigars for sale.
