Artie Leftwich, Sr.
Artie D. Leftwich, Sr., age 94, of Lubbock, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. in the Breckenridge Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.
Artie Delane Leftwich was born August 23, 1929, in Omaha, Texas, to parents George Olen Leftwich and Avis Dewey Hartgrove Leftwich. After high school, he joined and served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. Artie married LaWana Raye Havins, and together they had three children. He worked at Atmos Energy Company repairing gas meters and as a manager for many years until his retirement. His wife passed in 2000, and years later, on August 11, 2003, he married Sue Nichols in New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, LaWana Leftwich; and two children, Artie Leftwich, Jr. and Christy Steeley.
Mr. Leftwich is survived by his wife, Sue Leftwich of Lubbock; one son, Alan Leftwich; and four grandchildren, Corey Peddy, Kaylynn Peddy, Coby Leftwich and Lindsay Leftwich.
