The Breckenridge Woman’s Forum had their first meeting of the year on Sept. 26. The program featured Dr. Tonya Stafford of Dallas.

Stafford is a human trafficking survivor and founder of It’s Going to be OK, Inc. Her courage to tell her story and testify resulted in the passing of Texas House Bill 2290. This bill recognizes January as Human Trafficking Prevention Month throughout the state of Texas.

The mission of It’s Going to be OK Inc. is to eradicate human trafficking and help create a just world where women, children and all vulnerable adults are safe, respected and valued. They provide shelter, therapy, job readiness education, research and advocacy. Her powerful story and amazing journey to overcome her horrific exploitation and treatment touched the hearts of the Woman’s Forum members and inspired them to help raise awareness. Dos Gallos catered the meal, and hostesses were Sharon Wimberly, Mary Thompson, Melinda Fore, Ann Miller, Lisa Echols, Pat Knight. Sharon Wimberly provided the door prize, which was won by Emily Lester.
