Timothy Jay Russell was born December 3, 1951, in Cisco, Texas, to parents, T.J. Russell and Patty Lorese Mehaffey Russell. He grew up and attended school in Breckenridge. Tim enlisted in the National Guard in 1971 and served until his honorable discharge in 1977. On November 21, 1974, Tim married Stephanee Gai McKinzey in Breckenridge on his lunch hour when he stopped by the courthouse while driving a truck with a load of tubing for Owen Woodward.
Tim’s first venture into the business world was establishing a roustabout service. He began to add dirt work equipment and found his passion. He loved working with the land, whether it was in the oilfield or conservation. His talent opened doors for Tim in the oil and gas industry, where he was able to start a successful operating company. Tim came full circle when he started T Russell Ranch to pursue his love for working the land and raising cattle. Tim would say he was a simple man who was blessed by the Lord to be able to provide for the future of his family and others that he helped along the way.
He was an active member of St. Paul Methodist Church, a member of the Central Texas Emmaus Community and served on numerous walks throughout the years. Tim was involved with the Stephens County Junior Livestock Show for years and loved working with the youth. He enjoyed his everyday coffee time with his friends and talking about the local football games and community affairs.
He was preceded in death by 2 infant siblings, his parents, and sister, Carol Carey.
Tim is survived by his wife, Stephanee Russell; one son, Roy D. Russell and wife Sumer; grandchildren, Cheyenna Wimberley, Sidney Blaire Russell, Timothy Benjamin Russell, Wyatt Lynch Burns, and Alex Masterson; great-grandchildren, Chylen and Keaton Wimberley, Lincoln Grant Masterson; two brothers, Jack Russell and wife Traci, David Russell and wife Lesa; sister, Carla Robinson and husband John of Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
