Elizabeth Jane ‘Beth’ Palmer

Elizabeth Jane (Dosser) Palmer, better known as Beth, passed away at the age of 94 in Huntsville, Texas, on Monday, September 11, 2023. Her graveside service at the Moran Cemetery will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, and will be under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Beth was born on May 13, 1929, in Gorman, Texas, to Lannie Baron Dosser and Georgie Elizabeth (Jones) Dosser. She was raised in Moran, Texas. She graduated from high school at the age of 16 and then directly enrolled at Texas Woman’s University. She met Victor Palmer, and the two were married. Together, they have two children: David and Patricia.

Beth was a hard worker. She eventually retired from her job with the Texas State Welfare Department. She was loved by her coworkers, especially Barbara, Bobbie, and Laura, whom she was great friends with. They took trips together and stayed in touch all through the years. After her retirement, Beth loved tending to her plants and volunteering at the Mercer Arboretum and Botanical Gardens north of Houston.

After being flooded out during 2001’s tropical storm Allison, Beth and Victor moved to the Waterwood community on Lake Livingston. A year later, in 2002, Victor passed away. Beth remained in Waterwood and became a big part of that community. She was a member of Grace Community Church and was a faithful Christian. She was also a member of the Cold Spring Garden Club and the Waterwood Red Hats. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Beth was preceded in death by her husband of over five decades, Victor, along with her parents, Lannie and Georgie. She is survived by her children, David Hal Palmer and Patricia Elizabeth Palmer Leslie; along with granddaughters, Jessica Anne Leslie and Victoria Elizabeth Leslie. Jessica is married to Joseph Beaman, who is on active duty in the U.S. Navy and resides in Washington. Victoria (Tori), who just received her RN certificate and works for Methodist Hospital in the Woodlands, Texas, is with Chris Rackstraw, and together they have a son, Grayson Rackstraw.

Memorial donations in Beth’s name can be made to an organization or charity of the donor’s choice and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
