Dorothy Cox
Dorothy Cox, age 95, of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 10, at Morehart Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Genoa Goad officiating. Interment will follow in the Plum Branch Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, at Morehart Mortuary.
Dorothy Jean Taylor was born August 3, 1928, in Munday, Texas, to William Taylor and Omie Allison Taylor. She graduated from Breckenridge High School and worked in the oil and gas industry as a secretary. She loved fishing and hunting and will be remembered for her amazing accuracy. Dorothy loved being in the country with her family. She also used to raise a variety of birds including quail, peacocks and pheasants.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Dora Mathis; her twin brother; and two sisters, Inez Brown and Ruth Holland.
Mrs. Cox is survived by her two daughters, Pam Foust and Brenda Allen, both of Breckenridge; one sister, Faye Van Winkle of Breckenridge; five grandchildren, Toby Foust, Chris Foust, Jeremy Pence, Wayne Pence, and David Brock; and multiple great-grandchildren.
