William ‘Bill’ McCann

William ‘Bill’ McCann

On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, after a lengthy battle fighting cancer, William “Bill” McCann, 69, passed away at his home in Electra, Texas, with his family by his side. A Rosary service will be held at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Electra, Texas, on Thursday, July 20, 2023, and will begin at 6:00 p.m. His graveside service at the Breckenridge Cemetery will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, with JB Sparks officiating. The family will be present at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home that Saturday morning from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. for a short visitation before heading to the cemetery.

Bill was born to Billy Ray McCann and Grace McCann on May 10, 1954, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He worked his entire career in the natural gas industry, and eventually retired from Energy Transfer. On February 24, 1975, he married Lori Lee Burt.

If there were ever two songs whose titles described Bill perfectly, they were “Simple Man” and “Humble and Kind.” He was a vinyl records collector whose favorite bands included the Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, along with various other classic rock bands.

Bill never met a stranger and would always help anyone he could. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather, and his love for his family and for life could be seen in his charismatic and gentle nature. He had the best laugh, something his family – especially his daughter and grandchildren – will never forget!

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Robert McCann.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelsee Lee McCann (Chance White); granddaughter, Ambry McCann; grandson Trey McCann (Makala Lowrey); sisters-in-law Bonnie Patt and family, and Melinda Christian and family; uncle, Troy Gilbert; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Memorial donations in Bill’s name can be made to an organization or charity of the donor’s choice and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be left online at meltonkitchens.com.
