Glenda Walker
Glenda Walker, age 90, of Breckenridge, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at Trinity Baptist Church with Butch Hinkle officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Woodson Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held just prior to the service from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, June 29, at Trinity Baptist Church.
Glenda Elizabeth Walker was born March 30, 1933, in Blum, Texas, to James Jackson Walker and Paralee Maples Walker. She attended Megargel High School and then went on to earn her nursing degree. Glenda worked as an LVN at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Breckenridge for 25 years. On May 8, 1953, she married Jackie Gale Walker in Breckenridge. She loved to travel and enjoyed her family cruises and trips to Hawaii, Switzerland, Austria and even Germany. Glenda was a seamstress and a great dancer, often attending the senior dances at the VFW. She was a longtime member of Shelton Avenue Baptist Church, where she played piano and also taught Sunday school. More recently, she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Above all she loved being a mom and grandma, and loved being called Nana by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Ruby Clark; two brothers, Wardell Walker and William Lee Walker; and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Cates.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her three children, Jackie Ensey of Breckenridge, Senie Fogarty and husband Charlie of Magnolia, and Sharvella Warner and husband David of Boyd; one sister, Clara Gee of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
