Late Spring Signing event recognizes four Buckaroos
Breckenridge High School held the Buckaroo Late Spring 2023 Athlete College Signing Event for several athletes last week.
In a special event Wednesday, May 17, at the BISD Athletics Center, Athletic Director Casey Pearce congratulated the college signees: Jesi Warren, who is going to Clarendon College for volleyball; Isaiah Lehr, McMurry University for football and track; Adrian Ruiz, Eastern New Mexico University for track; and, Haigan Thompson, Angelo State University for cheerleading.
“This is a huge deal for this group and their family members who are here with them,” Pearce said. “They’ve made a decision to leave this town and represent us at the next level and try and get an education, because that’s the most important thing.”
Turning to the students, Pearce said, “Understand the importance of what you’re stepping into, because it’s going to be work. It’s not going to be show up be part of just an athletic program. You’re fixing to be a student athlete with expectations every day to show up and do your job. They can cut you loose just as easy as they can recruit you in, so understand the importance of what you’re committing to. It’s gonna be hard, but every one of you can handle it. I’m proud of you.”
