Jesus “Jesse” Diaz, 77, of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, with his two daughters beside him. His funeral Mass will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Saint George Catholic Church in Haskell, Texas, with Father Amburose officiating. His interment will immediately follow at the Willow Cemetery.

Jesse Raymond Diaz was born to Jose and Lucinda Diaz in Hebbronville, Texas, on November 11, 1945.

Jesse is survived by his children, Milisa Porter and husband Ed of Fort Worth, Texas, Jesse Diaz, Sandra Diaz-Brandon, Bobby Diaz, Chris Diaz and wife Krissie, and Franky Diaz, all of Breckenridge; along with ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and the mother of his children, Cristina Diaz. He is also survived by his brothers, John Diaz and Octavio Diaz of Haskell, and Roy Diaz of Ohio; sisters, Lee Sanchez and husband Roger of Conroe, and Dora Diaz of Abilene; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Lucinda; brothers, Jose M. Diaz Jr, Fernando Diaz, and George Diaz; and one daughter, Mary Diaz.

Memorial donations in Jesse’s name can be made to a charity or organization of the donor’s choice and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.

Founded in 2017 by journalists Tony Pilkington and Carla McKeown, the Breckenridge Texan provides daily local news coverage, weekly newsletters, photo galleries, a community calendar, and obituaries. The outlet serves both local residents and people outside the community seeking information about Breckenridge and Stephens County, including potential new residents and businesses. They chose the non-profit structure to maintain local control of news coverage while minimizing the financial burden on the community.
