Easter and Spring events planned for community
The first day of Spring was last week, and Easter will be April 9, and several local organizations have related activities planned.
On Friday, March 31, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church will host a Lenten Fish Fry from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Parish Hall, 208 S. Miller St. Plates will cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. For more information, call Johnny Ponce at 254-246-1820 or Robert Alvarez at 254-522-2181.
East Elementary will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 1, for children ages 3 to 9. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 10 a.m. on the school playground, 1310 E. Elm St. There will be refreshments and a chance for a photo with the Easter Bunny.
Also on Saturday, April 1, the Breckenridge Craft Guild will host a Spring Craft Show at First Methodist Church’s Christian Life Center, 419 W. Walker St. The craft show will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a variety of handcrafted items available, including Easter items, Mother’s Day gifts and more, as well as barbecue for sale. Those who make a $1 donation or who donate one non-perishable food item or toiletry item will be entered into a drawing for door prizes. The donated food and toiletries will be given to the Blessing Box located in the city park.
On Saturday, April 8, New Destination Church will host a city-wide Easter Egg Hunt at the Trade Barn in the city park. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Breckenridge Independent School District students and staff will be off Friday, April 7, for Good Friday.
