Billy Nichols, Sr.
Billy Nichols, Sr., age 78, of Woodson, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 3, at First Baptist Church of Woodson with Rev. W.C. Roach officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodson Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 2, at Morehart Mortuary.
Billy Gene Nichols was born November 4, 1944, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to J.B. Nichols and Pauline Franklin Nichols. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Air Force until his Honorable Discharge. He then went on to enroll in college, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Billy worked for NASA for several years in astronaut rescue. He later worked as a mailman for the local post office. Billy enjoyed football and traveling but most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. They were his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Butch Nichols and Patricia Nichols; and his son, Billy Nichols, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Elting of Woodson; and three grandchildren, Bradley Whitney of Los Angeles, Andrew Oliver of Camp Lejeune, and Reanna Lee of Breckenridge.
