Breckenridge’s East Elementary School will have its Scholastic Book Fair this week, Dec. 5-9, and the community has an opportunity to be a Secret Santa and help students who might not otherwise be able to purchase a book.

On the Breckenridge ISD Libraries Facebook page, BISD Librarian Abby Moore wrote:

“It’s that magical time of year — THE BOOK FAIR! One of my favorite things in the whole world is surprising students with money to spend in the fair… I do this every year, and I cry every time when I see their faces! Would you like to donate to a child at East Elementary this year? You can donate ANY amount — 100% of donations will be given to students (nominated by teachers) to spend in the fair. Go to https://bit.ly/EastSecretSanta to donate. Selected students will shop on Dec. 8th & 9th.”

To make a donation that will be used to make sure every student at East Elementary gets a book, click the link above and fill in the form to pay with a credit or debit card. The form says the donations are for the pre-kindergarten classes, but the donations will be used for all grades at East, Pre-K through second grade. Donations need to be made by Wednesday, Dec. 7, so that the kids can use the money to get books on Thursday and Friday.

Although the students will have a chance to purchase books for themselves throughout the week, the school will host Family Night on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The students and their families may attend the book fair after school, so that everyone can browse the selections and buy some books.
