Olivia Ann Cortez-Montgomery, 50, of Breckenridge passed away on September 24, 2022, in Fort Worth surrounded by her children. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Dias officiating. Family will welcome friends for a Rosary at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the funeral mass at the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Melton Kitchens Funeral Home.

Libby was born in Eastland, Texas, on October 19, 1971. She dedicated her life to raising her 2 children on her own, Anthony and Marisa. Family was everything to her, but her grandchildren were her number one priority. She loved to go to their sporting events and school activities. She always went above and beyond for them.

Libby was strong-willed, independent and faced many challenges throughout her life. Her greatest achievement was beating cervical cancer and many years later surviving covid. Those things never stopped her from being the hard worker she was.

She worked many different positions in the food industry in her life before finding her career with Jonell. She dedicated the last 10 years of her life to her job; she made many friends and was very committed. She always made sure everything, and everyone was taken care of. When she wasn’t working or spending time with family, she loved watching football. She also loved relaxing and watching movies and cartoons. When you went into her home you saw pictures of her family as well as collectables from her favorite movie, Star Wars, and her favorite sports team, the New York Giants. Libby was loved by many; she was kindhearted and never took no for an answer. She will be missed dearly by all and will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on through her children and grandchildren.

Libby Cortez is survived by her father Nicholas Cortez; mother Virginia Cortez; brother Michael Cortez and wife, Megan; and sister Monica Cortez. Nephews Isaiah Cortez and wife Alexa and Andrew Cortez. Niece Rianna Grabast and husband Dillon. She is also remembered by her son Anthony Montgomery and wife Dannica, daughter Marisa Arellano and husband Eddie, and her grandchildren Kaydin Arellano, Zailee Arellano, Calvin Montgomery, Cash Montgomery, and another girl on the way.

Preceding her in death is her grandchild, Mallory Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a local charity of donor’s choice and may be left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home office. Condolences can be made for Libby at meltonkitchens.com.
