Josephine A. Garcia, 83, of Breckenridge, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Her funeral service will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Dias officiating. A rosary service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories and will begin at 6:00 p.m. Interment at the Breckenridge Cemetery will be under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Josephine Almanza was born on September 7, 1938, in Rotan, Texas, to Joe Almanza and Trina Solis-Almanza. Until his passing, she and her husband, Oscar Garcia, Sr., shared over 37 years together. Together, the couple had seven children. Josephine was not only a beloved wife, but she was also a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. And whenever she had the chance, she would spend time tending to her garden and spending time with her family.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband of nearly four decades, Oscar Garcia, Sr.; parents, Joe and Trina Almanza; one daughter, Dolores Garcia; two brothers, Frank Almanza and Henry Almanza; along with one sister, Paula Claunch. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Castillo of Breckenridge and Teresa Ramon of Phoenix, Arizona; sons, Oscar Garcia Jr. and wife Rebecca of Mount Pleasant, Texas, Luis Garcia of Fort Worth, Rudy Garcia and wife Alicia of Round Rock, Texas, David Garcia and wife Tanya of Joshua, Texas, and Robert Garcia of Saginaw, Texas; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Josephine’s name can be made to Meals on Wheels in Breckenridge and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
