Admiral Delores Cooper, 70, of Abilene, passed away surrounded by her loving children on Monday, May 9, 2022. Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022, in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Larry Jones officiating. Her interment at the Breckenridge Cemetery will immediately follow.

Admiral Delores Swann was born in Breckenridge, Texas, on February 8, 1952, to parents Robert and Erie Swann. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1968. After high school, she graduated from nursing school and served her community as an LVN until her retirement. Delores was a longtime member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Abilene, where she sang in the choir. It was always important that folks knew that she loved the Lord. She would always tell her loved ones and friends about her relationship with her Lord. Outside of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved to spoil, she also enjoyed spoiling herself with either nice jewelry or getting her nails done. Delores will be remembered as a woman that had a servant’s heart, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Delores is survived by her children, Aqrica Hooker and husband Daqualis of Abilene, and Clevelon Tarrone Thompson and wife Mandy of Abilene; siblings, Sondra Jones and husband Larry of Lubbock, and Clarence Dwayne Swann and wife Rosilyn of Las Vegas; along with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in Delores’ name can be made to Meals on Wheels and can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens.com.
